The SMB concept of storage environmental control (preservation), causes equipment which is an inactive state to remain in perfect condition while enclosed in a safely controlled environment. Such environment is sealed, monitored and kept at a constant humidity level, thereby protecting equipment against the effects of decay and adverse weather conditions e.g. corrosion.
