A little about us

We are pensioners and have been on a number of 4x4 trips. We are members of two 4x4 clubs and have gained a great deal of 4x4 driving experience and fun by participating in the club activities. As often as possible we love to go away in a 4x4.

The Hi-Lux has been fitted out so that we sleep on a platform in the back. There are three main storage devices in the rear - a fridge and a box for food and a box for clothes. Behind these we store our reserves and extra equipment. When we use the Land Cruiser we take a tent.

We have met many wonderful people on Francois Rossouw's "Radio Sonder Grense" tours. This is an Afrikaans club and the web address is www.rsg4x4klub.co.za. To reduce the overall costs we usually go somewhere before we join the tour and then we often also do something afterwards.

Mostly we tour on our own as few people have the time or inclination to do the things that we like. After much reflection we have come to the conclusion that we would probably be classed as "extreme" 4x4 enthusiasts. The 4x4's are "our" vehicles and we take it in turns to drive. Sylvia enjoys competitions more than I do.

I retired at the end of 1998
