The attached list of suburbs within or partially within the boundaries of the jurisdiction of the sheriff for Sandton was compiled to serve as a rough gu= ide, as certain addresses on or near the boundary with neighbouring sheriffs do not lend themselves to brief descriptions. Rather contact our office if there is any doubt regarding jurisdiction.

 

Common reasons for delayed and/= or incorrect service:

 

1.    Document for service forwarded to wrong sheriff.=

2.    Incomplete or incorrect address for service= . Str= eet names and numbers are required and particularly in Sandton, also the suburb name, as there are many streets in the Municipal area of Sandton with the s= ame name.

3.    Longwinded standardized covering letters without highlighted key words<= span style=3D'font-size:11.0pt;mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;line-height:150%'> and/or highlighted special instructions. This office processes numerous documents per day = and important instructions hidden within superfluous directives are unfortunate= ly sometimes missed. Typical examples of important key words are urgent, domicillium/registered/etc address, to be served on nth defe= ndant, moveable/immovable property= etc.

4.    Amendment to address for service on the face of a<= span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>  Magistrate’s Court document = not initialed and date-stamped by = the Clerk of the Court.=

5.    Lost documents. Do not use paper clips or pins. Attach documents using suitable staples for the thickness of the document. Use rubber bands or spring clips for very thick documents.

6.    To av= oid service of original documents, always attach copies of documents to be serv= ed to the back of all other documents which are not to be served.
