Why should I test my blood glucose at home?

Testing your own blood glucose levels will give you the information you need to successfully manage your diabetes. Without regular testing, you will not know how your food choices, exercise and medicines are working, or when to make changes.

What are the recommended blood glucose levels?

Before meals     1-2 hours after meals At bedtime
Between 4.4-6.7 mmol/L Less than 10 mmol/L 5.5-7.8 mmol/L

You will notice that the blood glucose levels are higher after eating. This is when the food glucose is entering the blood stream.
