Community Care Project

 

1. INTRODUCTION

Through the Community Care project we try to address the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the communities living in Vrededorp and Bertrams.

2. ACTIVITIES

2.1 "Soppaleis"

Once a week an evening meal is served to members of the community. This ensures a feeling of community and belonging.

2.2 Old Age Homes

Park Cottages, Millennium Centre and Casa Mia are three old age homes, which are visited weekly. During these visits the elderly are brought together to have fellowship with each other and a programme is presented to them. The project has started with a Bible Study group at Park Cottages.

5. FUTURE PLANS

• We are involved in conducting a demographic survey with the Bertrams Community Development Forum to establish how to address the housing need and the development of family values.
• We would like to become more involved with Casa Mia. This venue might become a focal point from which this whole project is being run. 

6. CONCLUSION

After many years of hard work we have finally been accepted and are respected in the area of Bertrams. It is our aim to facilitate change in these communities so that they will become respected sustainable neighbourhoods in Johannesburg.
