"For too long people have avoided the issue of contacting the spirits of the dearly departed. This is unfortunate because there is much they can teach us, guide us in, give us advice about, heal us, offer us consolation and give us important information. There are various reasons for our trepidation;"Firstly - the Bible:
It states in various places in the Bible that communication with the spirits of the dead is a wrongful practice and condemned by God. Subsequently religious teachings and churches have carried this message forward. It is unfortunate that churches condemn one of the largest aspects of God's work. There was however good reason for it appearing so in the Bible.Secondly - the Media:
When a subject which people in general know virtually nothing about is portrayed, such as in a film, viewers tend to accept what is offered to them as the truth because of the realistic, graphic nature of the story. Hollywood producers and fiction authors are especially guilty in this regard (it must be kept in mind they are experts in the field of story-telling, not in the subject of the afterlife or of spiritual matters), they portray a story in order to make money. Unfortunately violence and aggression sells - people want to see blood, death and things that go bump in the night.Thirdly - Word of Mouth:
Many people are afraid as a result of the stories they have heard, there are many, many frightening stories of 'evil' things that have happened to people while attempting to make some form of contact in the Spirit World. In most cases they are stories that have snow balled and been added to as they have been passed on from one person to another. Some have a hint of truth, but usually they are far removed from the actual occurance. This is not to say there is no evil, nor does it mean there is no truth behind them, but care should always be take when accepting these stories at face value.- To leave a comment on the Message Board click here! -
