Surprisingly, very much! Who you are is a result of what you are called. If your name were Robert smith for instance; some would call you Robert, some would call you Rob; some might call you Robbie, some Bobbie and others Bob. To each of these groups of people you would react differently - why?
Each letter of your name has a numerical value associated with it; a=1, b=2, c=3, etc. After assigning the letters they are added together. Using the relevant totals, various predetermined characteristics can be recognised, huh?!? There are 9 basic categories of human character in the world and every one of us fits into one of those characters, depending on the make-up of your name. If your Name total was a "1", for example, you would be a natural born leader, a go-getter. Fortunately his is not all there is to it, you are more complex than that. These numbers are broken down several times to depict lesser, yet not less important aspects of your character. In life you have a personality, an ego, aspirations for the future, these are also reflected in your name. Your ego is made up of the sum total of the vowels, your outward personality made up of the sum total of the consonants, etc. The date of your birth also plays an important role in the make up of who you are and reaching an accurate description.
Here is an example of how a name might affect a person's personality depending on what others might call him.
A person behaves differently to all those who call him something different to anyone else calling him by another name. The same rings true for a woman changing her surname when getting married. Known by a particular maiden name she has a distinctly different approach to others than what she would have after the wedding - only if the numeric value changes. If the numeric value does not change the character of the person would remain the same. Little wonder sometimes peoples attitudes toward one another change soon after the wedding.
