Before each incarnation is undertaken a meeting is held in the spirit world between the soul intending to undertake the life, guides, helpers and others specially trained in preparing it for the coming birth and life. The first thing on the 'agenda' is to decide what the reason is for the intended incarnation - what lesson will be learned through it? Once this has been established suitable parents need to be found for the baby. Yes, we choose our own parents and our own lives to come - as far as possible.
Choosing the life is a tricky operation as it needs to be ideal for learning that lesson. If, for example, you wanted to learn humility, you couldn't be born to a king, could you. You would be celebrated and honoured and praised your whole life long - where would the humility lesson be?
After choosing the parents and the life, conception takes place - this is done with the help of the guides of the intended mother and father. The minute the sperm enters the egg and the merger is successful the silver cord between the baby's spirit and the physically forming baby is formed. From that moment on life has begun and now the spirit waits until the body is formed enough to be able to benefit from the spirit inhabiting it and vice versa. The spirit doesn't stay inside the baby's body all the time while in the womb, but does visit it from time to time to 'check on progress'. At the physical birth the spirit is permanently within the body and is the reason the baby is born awake. Sometimes, though not very often, the spirit will enter the baby only moments after birth and is the reason the baby appears to be born 'sleeping' waking up only moments later. The body cannot be awake in the absence of the spirit.
