Every human body is surrounded by the etheric body which is an electromagnetic field and is the 'nucleus' of the aura. The etheric varies in thickness from about 2mm to about 150mm and follows the exact contours of the body and is influenced by the health and vitality of the person. Enveloping the etheric is the aura and every part of our existence is reflected within it. It has been known of for a long time and has often been depicted in paintings as a halo surrounding the heads of saints and angels although they actually surround the whole body. Most people have the ability to see the aura if the skill is developed. The aura is made up of beautiful colours which show the personality, health and general characteristics of the person. These colours swirl upwards and cascade downwards again. The colour of the aura changes and adapts to the related circumstances of the person. Not only do people have auras, but also plants, animals, vegetation and minerals. Illness affects the size and colour of the aura with the rays drooping in the vicinity of the ailment. Upon healing, the radiations return to normal but at the approach of death, the aura shrivels and vanishes completely as death occurs. Auras radiate in layers around them according to the following table;

Minerals and Rocks
Vegetation
Reptiles
Birds
Animals
Man
  1 stratum
1-2 strata (grass=1, trees=2)
2-3 strata
3-4 strata
4-5 strata
6 strata

When a person goes to sleep, the aura vanishes, stripping away from the outside layer to the inside stratum, and when waking it returns in the reverse order. The aura is enclosed within a transparent skin called the auric sheath (astral shell). Much the same as a hen's egg shell holds all the insides together, so too the sheath encloses the body, the etheric and the aura. The sheath undulates somewhat under the swirls and tremors of the aura, but always keeps its basic shape.
