My impression of a Watcher, a
fallen angle - half human and half god.
"And it came to pass, when men began to multiply
on the face of the ground,
and daughters were born unto them, and the sons of the gods saw
the daughters of men
that they were fair; and they took them wives of all that they
chose."
Book of Genesis, Chapter
6, verses 1-2
"And upon the earth they shall give birth to
giants, not of the spirit but of the flesh".
The story is common to most of the old cultures,
be it Hebrew, Sumerian, Greek, Zoroastrian, Yaresan, etc.
They are called The Nephilim, The Watchers, The Titans, The Shiny
Ones, The Daevas, and The Djinn
amongst others.
They are described by the various myths to have either
wings or feathers, to be as tall as trees, their
skin as white as snow or shiny like the sun, their eyes like burning
lamps and their hair as white as wool.
They shared the secrets of the gods with the humans.
Not all is good though as there are also tales
of fornication, slaughter, bestiality, vampirism, etc. So the gods
decided to clean the earth of this
abomination by flood. The seeds of humanity survived the floods owing
to a righteous man
preserving it in some kind of boat after receiving warning of the
impending disaster from one of the gods.
Different cultures know the hero of the flood by different names,
the most famous being Noah, Ziusudra,
Attrahasis, Ut-napishtim, etc.
The million dollar question is obvious. Did any of
the Nephilim survive?
