Cailleach: Celtic Crone and Water Goddess

Cailleach is an ancient goddess who has her origins on the continent and eventually earned a following through the entire Celtic world.

In modern Gaelic her name means "old wife", but it originally meant "veiled one". Cailleach is a Crone Goddess associated with water.

She has a magical white rod of Druidic origin with which she could blast the vegetation with frost and she thus had power over the elements. Cailleach governs the Sidhe, the sacred hill through which we enter into the world of the Fey and spirits. She is said to have power over dreams and inner realities.
