WELCOME TO ALL MEMBERS AND NEWCOMERS Welcome to the Transvaal Fly Tyers Guild Home Page. We'd like to share information on our Club with you, as well as encourage you to share our thoughts on fly tying in South Africa. VENUE Tennis Club building at the Bryanston Sports Club in Payn Road, corner Main Road and Payn Road, Bryanston TIME Meetings start 7.00 p.m. for 7.30 p.m. and tying lasts until 9.30 p.m. MONTHLY PROGRAM The evening program is as follows: Introduction by Chairperson and news items Guest tyer who demonstrates the evening's fly including how to fish the fly. The fly is usually seasonal or specimen orientated and deals across the board with fresh- and saltwater. After the demonstration, materials for the tying including the hooks are made available to members who then voluntarily sit down and tie the fly under supervision. All flies are entered into a competition in three categories : juniors, beginners and advanced. The evening's winner goes forward to the competition for the best dressed fly for the year. All you bring for the evening is your vise, fly-tying tools and thread. There is a beginners corner where instruction is given to those who require basic help. IT'S ALL A LOT OF FUN AND ALL ARE WELCOME To return to THE SOUTHERN AFRICAN TROUT AND FLFYFISHING DIRECTORY

HISTORY The Guild was started in 1991 by a group of flyfishermen who wanted to further their own knowledge and pass on to others information on the art of fly dressing.
MONTHLY FISHING OUTINGS The Club organises a monthly outing to a variety of venues so that members can accumulate points for catching various species of fish. The points then go towards picking a winning team of five members to represent the Club in the regional fish-off. Individuals then can go forward to represent South Africa in international flyfishing competitions.
