THE ROLE OF THE
FEEDER-BREAKER
The feeder-breaker is typically used
in underground coal mining to link the mobile and stationary
equipment in the section. It evens the flow of coal onto the
conveyor belt and breaks the coal down to a manageable size.

BUFFALO FEEDER-BREAKERS
The Buffalo feeder-breaker has been the
"standard" feeder-breaker in South African coal mines
for the past 24 years. It has evolved over the years into one of
the toughest and most reliable machines used underground. Typical
availability figures of over 99% is consistantly achieved in the
adverse South African mining conditions with the minimum of
maintenance.
Although a standard range of models is available, machines are designed to suit the individual mine's conditions and requirements. There are over 300 Buffalo feeder breakers in operation in South African coal mines and Buffaloes can be found as far afield as Brazil, the UK, Botswana and Zimbabwe.
