Advertising is the means by which one makes known what they have to sell, or what they want to buy.

It is important to be able to plan your ad campaigns correctly, select the placements and measure the response. Several factors need to be taken into account when considering publications for carrying out your print advertising:

Frequency - how often does the selected publication appear, or how often can changes be made.

Penetration - how effective is it as a means of penetrating the target market to reach the greatest number of potential customers.

Circulation - how many requests for copies does the publication receive.

Readership - sometimes referred to as OTS (opportunity to see), how many people actually read the publication and what kind of people are they.

Profile - what is the proportional breakdown of its readers according to social grades.

After determining which are suitable publications you can then carry out:

Media selection - narrowing the choice of publications in order to obtain the fewest publications necessary to reach the maximum number of potential buyers.
