Cow Bell.
For a series of commercials about a cow family who like milk powder (not too surprising). The idea was to keep the visuals simple and concentrate on character performance.
So a lot of work went into setting up the charater models. This cow has a number of special 'puppet' controls for facial expressions and lip-synch to hand controls which move and control hand postures.




Metamesh from 'Pheonix tools' was used for modeling the skin. It is a similar technique to 'subdivision surfaces', which allow you to 'sculpt' the model more easily. Skinning and animation of the low-res model, translates directly into the hi-res result. It was a great tool to have.
The models where very lite and easy to pose and animate. Mooo...
